News2017 Asia Digital Art Award FUKUOKA2018.2.28

The Executive Committee of the 2017 Asia Digital Art Award recently organized the following events.

This year, until the submission deadline of October 29th, we received a total of 512 applications from 12 countries. After a strict deliberation, 76 works were selected. The exhibition of this year’s works was held on the 7F Temporary Exhibition Space of the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum over a span of six days and attracted about 1,000 visitors.

The awards ceremony held on February 24th, 2018 was attended by around 100 people, including the Vice Governor of Fukuoka, Ms. Akie Omagari, the Director of International Economy and Content Department, Fukuoka City Economy, Tourism, and Culture Section, Mr. Shomei Yokouchi, the President of Kyushu University, Mr. Chiharu Kubo, associates of supporting organizations and companies, and the winner of the 2017 Asia Digital Award, Macoto Murayama. In conjunction with the awards ceremony, a reception was also held to facilitate conversations and exchanges between the award winners, judges, and representatives from the public and private sectors.

Furthermore, a symposium jointly organized by Creative Labofuoka and the Center for Designed Futures of Kyushu University also took place.

This year marks the 17th year of the Asia Digital Art Award FUKOKA and as a space for high-quality expression of media technology from Fukuoka to the world, it has grown into one of the world’s most competitive media arts competitions. The concept of this exhibition is rich expression of art with an Asian touch using the most advanced and cutting-edge media technology. Besides anticipating new forms of expression making use of artistic sensibilities based on logical thinking, the event also aims to create mutual networks of creators through media art.
