英彦山修験道紹介映像 Introduction of Hikosan Shugendo  (English Subtitles)

福岡県にある標高1199mの英彦山(ひこさん)は、羽黒山、熊野大峰山とともに日本三大修験山のひとつである。修験道とは、山岳信仰、神道、仏教、道教、五行思想などを習合し、自然を畏敬する信仰。

Mt. Hiko (Hikosan), rising 1,199m above sea level in the southern part of Fukuoka prefecture of Kyushu, Japan, is one of Japan’s three major mountains for ascetic practice (shugen), along with Mt. Haguro (Hagurosan) in Yamagata prefecture and the mountains of Omine (Ominesan) in Nara prefecture. Shugendo consists of a combination of various religious and cultural practices and ideas, including nature worship, mountain cults, folk belief, Shinto, Buddhism, Daoism, Five Elements thought, astronomy, and pharmacology.
