Content Environment Design Laboratory (Ushiama Laboratory)

Kyushu University, Faculty of Design / Graduate School of Design, Media Design Course

Our lab explores the design of content environments that support human creativity and growth, focusing on topics such as web technologies, recommender systems, and content experiences supported by generative AI.

About

The Content Environment Design Laboratory (Ushiama Lab) conducts research on the relationship between people and information in cyberspace, including digital content, web services, and social media.

By integrating data engineering and machine learning with design and expressive perspectives, we investigate what it means for information experiences to be meaningful for people.

Laboratory Introduction

Our research theme is the “meaning and value that information brings to people.” We work on information recommendation, generative AI, user behavior analysis, and social media analysis.

In particular, we are interested in applying AI technologies to support users’ growth and creative activities, in areas such as learning support, appreciation support, and creative support.

Through conference presentations, paper writing, and media/art works, we emphasize helping students deepen their interests and connect with society.

For Students

We welcome students who are interested in both technology and design, and who wish to explore what meaningful information experiences are for people.

Students with strong programming or data analysis skills, as well as those who want to make creative use of information technologies from a design and expressive perspective, are both welcome.

If you would like to visit our lab or discuss possible thesis topics, please contact us by e-mail in advance, including your affiliation and research interests.
