The reason why I chose the Graduate School of Design

During my undergraduate studies, I majored in industrial design, which sparked a deep interest in the intersection of art and engineering. I also believe that Japanese design has a unique sense of “character” that stands out globally.
When I explored the Graduate School of Design’s website and learned about the research of the professors and senior students, I immediately felt, “This is exactly the research direction I’ve been looking for.”
Now, after five years of studying here, I truly feel that choosing this path was a matter of fate and undoubtedly the best decision for me.

My most memorable class

In the class “Producer Principles,” we completed everything in just one week, from planning and execution to finally presenting the final product (a video). When the professor first introduced the assignment, I couldn’t help thinking, “Isn’t this mission impossible…?”
But when I ultimately presented the work I had created, the sense of accomplishment was overwhelming. Through this experience, I gained a real, hands-on understanding of what a producer must constantly keep in mind. It remains one of the most memorable classes I have taken.

My student life

As an international student, I’ve completely fallen in love with student life at Kyushu University. The chorus of cicadas in summer, the soft snow in winter, and the lively voices across campus all energize me every day. The time I spend immersed in projects with other students is especially fulfilling.

Message to prospective students

I once heard these words, “In life, advice from others only goes so far. There are things you can understand only through your own experience.” To all prospective students: move forward, feel things for yourselves, and challenge yourselves. Of course, you may face uncertainties along the way, but those very experiences “walking with your own feet” will become a powerful asset in your future. I sincerely support you in your challenge!
