Professor Francesco Zurlo, Dean of the Design Department at Politecnico di Milano, and Dr. Gianluca Carella, Research Fellow, visited Kyushu University’s Ohashi Campus on February 20-21, 2025.
On February 20, they paid a courtesy visit to Professor Akira Omoto, Dean of the Faculty of Design at Kyushu University. Professor Kazuki Takenouchi from the Department of Media Design, Faculty of Design and Assistant Professor Yasuyuki Hayama from the Department of Strategic Design also attended the meeting, where participants engaged in productive discussions about further developing academic and student exchanges between the two institutions.
Following the courtesy visit, the Strategic Design International Symposium “Multiform Design, Strategy and Entrepreneurship” was held at the Design Commons, Ohashi Campus. The symposium featured compelling presentations and spirited discussions on cutting-edge design research by researchers from diverse international backgrounds.
On February 21, detailed introductions of both universities’ educational programs and research activities were presented, along with discussions on specific research collaborations. Faculty members from the Faculty of Design showed particular interest in the introduction of the “Interdependence” exhibition scheduled to be held at Politecnico di Milano from April 16-21, 2025.
Both institutions look forward to deepening and expanding exchanges among faculty members and students in the future.
