Advanced technology integration international workshop held between Kyushu University and Taiwanese Universities

From May 7 to 9, 2025, Professor Shuenn-Ren Liou from the Department of Architecture, College of Planning and Design, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, and Associate Professor Daisuke Nagatomo from the Department of Design, College of Arts, National Taiwan Normal University, visited Kyushu University’s Ohashi Campus with their students. This visit was supported by the international collaborative project “Research on the Sustainable Design Application of Direct Ink Writing 3D Printing Utilizing Circular Materials and Artificial Intelligence Technology.” This project is a collaboration between the Kyushu-Okinawa Open University (KOOU), an organization of 11 national university corporations in the Kyushu-Okinawa region, and The University Academic Alliance in Taiwan (UAAT), an academic platform for universities in Taiwan.
Associate Professor Kazuya Saito from the Faculty of Design at Kyushu University hosted a workshop focusing on ceramic (architectural) 3D printing, sustainability, and AI technology. During the workshop, students created innovative prototype models addressing coral reef rehabilitation using ceramic and architectural 3D printing technologies.
A second joint workshop is scheduled to be held at National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan next month. Further meaningful academic exchanges between the three universities are anticipated in the future.
