“Strategic (Multiform) Design,” a book that systematically organizes the ideas and practices of strategic design, will be published in Japanese by BNN, Inc. Yasuyuki Hayama, Assistant Professor in the Department of Strategic Design at Kyushu University’s Faculty of Design, was involved as a translator for this Japanese edition, and an additional chapter based on research outcomes has been newly included.
This book presents a perspective on design that is grounded in practices of form-giving and expression, while also framing design as a mode of thinking for envisioning organizations, society, and business, and for guiding future value creation. In addition to clarifying its theoretical frameworks, the book discusses the roles and potential of strategic design through multiple practical cases.
In the chapter to which Assistant Professor Hayama contributed as an author, a new perspective is presented that understands design as a practice for envisioning and creating new ways in which the world can be organized, grounded in prior research outcomes.(Design as Worldmaking Practice)
The book offers theoretical and practical insights that support the organization and reconsideration of ways of thinking across a wide range of fields, including not only design but also business, innovation, education, and the public sector, where complex challenges are increasingly encountered.
We hope that this publication will be of use to those with an interest in these areas.
