Neon tubes are often regarded as an “outdated technology” from the perspectives of efficiency and safety. However, it is precisely their fragility and inconvenience that can become a source of expressive intensity today.
In this lecture and workshop, two specialists in neon tube fabrication will be invited as instructors. Through live demonstrations and hands-on design experiences, participants will engage with both the technical process of creating light and the modes of thinking that accompany it.
Beyond a simple making experience, this program offers an opportunity to reflect on industrial technology, contemporary art, urban culture, and the realities of craftsmanship as a profession.
