The reason why I chose the GraduateSchool of Design
In my undergraduate studies, I majored in preventive medicine, and among the various fields, I developed a strong interest in ergonomics and wanted to explore it more deeply. As I researched further, I learned that the Graduate School of Design offers practical learning in human-centered design and ergonomics, with active research and well-equipped experimental facilities. I felt, “Here, I can deepen my exploration,” and decided to pursue graduate studies. Now, I truly feel my interests and research are closely connected.
My most memorable class
The Studio Project “The Kyushu University Hospital × Design Project” during my master's program was particularly memorable. Through hospital visits, we identified issues in the medical environment, and my team focused on wiring issues around hospitalized patients. As we proposed and prototyped a product that would not interfere with patients’ movements, I experienced the fusion of medicine and design firsthand. This kind of interdisciplinary collaboration is a unique strength of a comprehensive university, and it was a valuable opportunity to learn the essence of human-centered design.
My student life
I actively participate in extracurricular activities such as joining exchange events with international students as a Geiko Supporter, and running a cafe at the school festival with my club “Plant Project .” Additionally, attending academic conferences allows me to visit various regions, including overseas, which is one of the joys of my student life.
Message to prospective students
