My current job
I work in the research and development department of a heavy industry manufacturer, addressing various issues and challenges related to sound. Our research focuses on noise prediction and mitigation, ranging from noise generated by industrial machinery and plants to that from rotating machinery such as aircraft jet engines and turbo compressors. We also predict and evaluate underwater sound propagation—topics that are unique to the field of heavy industry.

How I spent my student life
Since my time at a local technical college, I aspired to become an engineer specializing in sound. This led me to transfer to the School of Design, where I could study acoustics. After joining a laboratory, I devoted myself to research every day, engaging in discussions with my supervisor and senior and junior lab members. I learned the importance of not taking simulation or experimental results at face value, but instead reflecting on why specific results were obtained, formulating hypotheses, and verifying them. This approach to research and development remains important to me today.

Message for prospective students
The School of Design offers a diverse array of fascinating fields of study and research themes. No matter what you pursue, the experiences of being deeply immersed in something during your student years will build confidence in yourself and become a valuable foundation for your future. I hope your student life is both enjoyable and fulfilling!
