Yuzuki Wakata (artist name: “疵窳” (kizuyu)), a fourth-year student in the Industrial Design Course, School of Design, received the “Newcomer Award” and the “Dynamic Contemporary Artists Award (Flat)” at the 17th “Dynamic Contemporary Artists Exhibition,” organized by the TORAM Spatial Art General Incorporated Association.
Wakata’s work is an interactive exhibition based on the theme of “leak,” created using pixel art techniques. It was created based on the idea of how the information society influences human psychology—specifically, how bystanders judge someone when a secret is leaked that could ruin their social standing if revealed.
Before viewing the artwork, visitors are asked to choose either a red or green transparent sheet intuitively. This act is designed to elicit an unconscious judgment, ultimately visualizing the viewer’s own gaze toward others.
