This fourth concert in the “Music and the Non-Human” series will specifically address three important questions:
1. What methodologies can be employed to enhance the functionalities of existing technology in order to replicate the acoustic reflection of material and biological phenomena?
2. To what extent can these sounds be considered authentic, or are they merely an echo of our inner selves?
3. How might the perception of sounds from environments external to humans—including natural or industrial environmental phonomimes, non-human or non-sentient phenomimes, and intangible psychomimes—assist in the discovery of previously unknown aspects of human nature and evolution?
Electronic music by composers from different periods, from the 1960s to the present day, will be performed in this fourth concert. They have achieved the expression they seek through the use of concrete and synthetic sound technology, as well as various electronic devices and software.
