My current job
In anime production, I work in the "compositing" process, where materials from different sections, such as drawings, backgrounds, and CG, are brought together and finished as video content for TV or theaters. My job involves adding movement to characters and scenes, creating lighting effects and blurring to make the visuals feel realistic, and applying effects that are hard to achieve with hand-drawn animation. I see this work as enhancing materials that are already 100% complete on their own and elevating them to 200%. Since joining my current company, I’ve had the opportunity to work on various projects within just six months.
How I spent my student life
When I first entered university, I had no prior knowledge of filmmaking and wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. However, through activities in our school festival club and classes, I gradually became immersed in video production and took on video production jobs outside of school, particularly focusing on music videos. Even though I loved anime, I never imagined I would work in the industry. Now, I’m fortunate to work at my favorite anime studio, and I’m fully committed to the world of anime with all my might.
Message for prospective students
I’ve been fortunate to encounter unexpected opportunities and meet amazing people along the way. These experiences became invaluable because I made an effort to connect with others, seize the opportunities in front of me, and give my all to each challenge. I encourage you to embrace the mindset of “regret doing it rather than regret not doing it” and take on as many challenges as you can.
