My current job

My job involves "acoustic design," which creates optimal sound environments tailored to the purpose of various structures, both domestically and internationally. These range from concert halls and theaters to arenas, hospitals, city halls, schools, libraries, and private residences. My tasks include conducting sound and vibration surveys at construction sites from morning to night, proposing layouts, dimensions, shapes, building materials, and equipment, and ensuring that construction aligns with the design intentions on-site. While managing multiple projects simultaneously keeps my job dynamic and diverse, I always make it a point to "listen to sound."

How I spent my student life

I applied to Geiko because I had a strong desire to work on acoustic design for various facilities without being confined by national borders in the future. I believed that Geiko would help me acquire knowledge, sensitivity, and the ability to explain concepts related to sound. I imagined that I would have the opportunities to develop application skills later in the workplace, so during my studies, I focused on deepening my understanding of the basic properties of sound. My research centered on measuring and predicting the sound absorption performance of building materials. Learning a wide range of topics related to sound, such as physical theories, music history, composition, physiology of hearing, and psychology, during my student years has been incredibly valuable in my current work.

Message for prospective students

It is incredibly important to explore what you love and what you want to pursue deeply. In the Acoustic Design Course at Geiko, if it involves sound, there are virtually no limits to the research you can undertake, thanks to the excellent faculty and facilities. I encourage you to find something you can dedicate yourself wholeheartedly.
