Internationalization Initiatives: Design in Japan/Understanding Japanese Design 2021

Kyushu University Faculty of Design is promoting the internationalization of its education with the aim of becoming a global hub of design education and research.

“Design in Japan/Understanding Japanese Design” is a special international course of the School of Design and Graduate School of Design. Professors from diverse specialized fields, such as architecture, sound, art, and product design, introduce Japanese design from their respective points of view. This course provides valuable opportunities for learning design from such a wide variety of fields.

30 students joined in 2021, coming from the following 5 countries and regions: Japan, China, South Korea, Kuwait, and France (In total 42 students including auditors from the United States, Brazil, Taiwan). The entire course was conducted in English. The students enthusiastically conducted their group discussions and presentations.
This course is conducted as part of the “Program for Understanding Japan”.
