  • Hibaru Cherry Blossom Park Monument Design Contest award...

Hibaru Cherry Blossom Park Monument Design Contest award-winning work is installed in the park and exhibited to the public.

The monument (made of stainless steel) by Haruki Nagae, a second-year master’s student in the Media Design Course (Tomotari Laboratory), which won the grand prize in the “Hibaru Cherry Blossom Park Monument Design Contest,” was installed and unveiled at the opening ceremony of Hibaru Cherry Blossom Park after its expansion and improvement.
Forty years ago (1984), a poem(tanka) was written on the cherry trees in the park that were scheduled to be cut down. This led to the hanging of many tanka poems pleading for the survival of the cherry trees, and the cherry trees in the park were spared from being cut down. This monument is based on this anecdote.
