The First Double Degree Program Concluded in the Graduate School of Design

On March 14, 2024, a Double Degree Master’s Program was concluded between the Graduate School of Design, Kyushu University and the Department of Industrial Design, College of Planning and Design, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, allowing students to obtain master’s degrees from both universities. The agreement was signed by Professor Akira OMOTO, Dean of the Graduate School of Design and Professor Chien-Hsu CHEN, Dean of the College of Planning and Design, at National Cheng Kung University. The ceremony was attended by Professor Ryoichi TAMURA, Associate Professor Taketoshi USHIAMA and Assistant Professor Tokushu INAMURA from Kyushu University and Professor Chun-Juei CHOU, Chair of the Department of Industrial Design, Professor Min-Yuan MA, the professor of the Department of Industrial Design and Head of the Art Center, Associate Professor Chia-Han YANG, Director of the Institute of Creative Industries Design, and Associate Professor Hsi-Jen CHEN from the Department of Industrial Design. Both deans hope to strengthen further the ties between the two schools, which have been cultivated over the past seven years, and foster ‘international designers’ with a broad perspective through the double degree program.

After the signing ceremony, the guests were given a tour of the campus of the College of Planning and Design of the National Cheng Kung University. We believe that the students participating in this double degree program will excel in their studies with National Cheng Kung University’s excellent educational environment and state-of-the-art research facilities.
