The reason why I chose the Graduate School of Design
I chose to study at Graduate School of Design for several reasons. First, Kyushu University is known for its academic excellence and high-quality education, as it is one of the top ten universities in Japan. Second, Graduate School of Design offers several specialized programs and faculty expertise that aligned with my research interests in architecture and urban design. Third, Graduate School of Design has different resources available including libraries, labs, and design studios that align with my academic needs. Furthermore, Graduate School of Design offers several opportunities for collaboration with other departments or schools, allowing me to explore interdisciplinary projects and broaden my knowledge.
My most memorable class
The most interesting course that I have attended was a course about "Information Design". It was a new field for me to learn about, as most of my courses were related to architecture and urban design, so it was a new experience for me. In this course, I learned how to design catalogues or make and edit videos about products and ideas. It was an interesting opportunity to learn about how information could be designed or delivered to a wide range of audience. I also had the opportunity to work with other international exchange students from other universities which helped me to connect and gain more knowledge. It was an overall unique experience.
My student life
During my studies, the school offered me the opportunity to attend several international courses and workshops related to architecture and urban design. I also had the opportunity to attend several conferences during my post graduate studies. All these activities have helped me to learn from several expertise and pioneers in my field. I have also had the opportunity to participate in Japanese language courses and cultural activities such as tea ceremony, sushi making, and kimono wearing. All these opportunities helped me learn more about the Japanese culture and made my life easier in Japan.
Message to prospective students
My message to prospective students is to start learning Japanese as early as possible. Even if the program is taught in English, learning Japanese would make your life easier and help you to connect and make new friends. Moreover, my message to prospective students is to try to focus more on their motives and decide why they want to study in Japan. Once you find out the motivation, you will be able to work hard to achieve your goal and you will be able to get the scholarship that would let you to be here. Always remember that hard work always pays of, so whatever challenges you may face, you will forget them once you graduate and achieve your goal.
