The reason why I chose the School of Design
When I was in junior high school, I belonged to the Art Club and intended to pursue a career in art. However, when I was diagnosed with color vision deficiency (in my case, Type 2 Dichromacy) in my second year of junior high, I gave up on that path. I went on to the normal high school, but a turning point came during my university entrance exam period. I read a news article about a campus map of Kyushu University, created with consideration for the diversity of color vision (color universal design) by a professor at the School of Design, and decided to pursue a new artistic path to join Geiko.
My most memorable class
"Color Science" class in my second year stands out the most. I have a strong interest in color diversity, and I think learning about color perception and vision optically, coupled with calculations, is a unique class that is not common in other universities or faculties. The "Typographic Design" class in the second year was also attractive. The world of typefaces and fonts is truly profound. It is a fascinating world that, once you enter, it is hard to get out. Please try the class.
My student life
I usually spend the majority of my time on my hobbies. I particularly like creating fonts and playing mahjong, and these activities often occupy most of my day. I started creating fonts after entering university. On the other hand, I first came into contact with mahjong when I was in kindergarten. Both have become significant presences in my life. The world of hobbies has deep attractions like a universe beyond human wisdom. Since I tend to be intensely absorbed in the fields I'm interested in, I spend every day delving deeper into this universe.
Message to prospective students
The School of Design is full of eccentric students. But being eccentric is not a bad thing at all. It's a manifestation of everyone's uniqueness and their attempt to master the areas they're interested in. If you have the will to learn at Geiko, cherish the motivation and reasons you have, look widely at other fields occasionally, and try to delve deeper. You should eventually reach the universe of your interests and passions. I'm looking forward to the day when your wishes come true and we can study together at Ohashi Campus.
