The reason why I chose the School of Design
Since I was a child, I have enjoyed creating things and fantasizing. When I became a junior high and high school student, I began to feel uncomfortable living in the town where I grew up. I vaguely thought that in the Design Futures Course, I could connect "my expression and ideas" with "the community" and perhaps create a slightly more comfortable society.
My most memorable class
The course that has left the greatest impression on me is the "Creative Village Special Seminar." We spent 3 days and 2 nights in a farm village in Yame City, Fukuoka, during summer vacation! Through the experience in the farm village with students of the School of Agriculture, we considered how the farm village should be from the perspectives of art and agriculture. The experience of being in contact with nature and the people living there seemed to change my perspective on what it means to "carry on traditions" and "protect the local community."
My student life
I organized an exhibition with my friends. Our goal was not only to display our works, but also to create a new experience for visitors. We discussed our plans over many days and months. I will never forget the exhilaration of being able to host an exhibition with our own efforts. I am also very grateful and respectful to my friends, who inspired me a lot.
Message to prospective students
As you become a university student, your world will expand significantly. At that time, I believe that those who have their own interests and values will be strong. Do not forget the moment when your heart is moved.
