The reason why I chose the Graduate School of Design

The fact that I could further develop and research the design I learned during my undergraduate years was attractive. In addition, the fact that the graduate courses have become more interdisciplinary, allowing me to carry out projects with students of diverse backgrounds, also contributed to my choice.

My most memorable class

Through a cross-disciplinary design studio-based subject, “Studio Projects”, we were able to propose designs in collaboration with companies and municipalities, allowing us to see how what we have learned can be given back to society.

My student life

I have been doing research and practice based on the concept of social inclusion, which involves people who have not been encompassed by existing frameworks, such as foreigners living in Japan and sexual minorities, in our designs. I have also actively participated in internships and in-house projects.

Message to prospective students

By combining your specialized field from your undergraduate years with the concepts of design, art, and engineering you can learn at the Graduate School of Design, I believe you can carry out research activities with originality. This is a place where even those who are progressing directly from the School of Design can fully engage in the research activities that start in their fourth year undergraduate studies. Let's enjoy the true university life here.
