We wear socks as a matter of course, but we go barefoot inside the house, wear shoes outside the house, and rarely live in socks. Socks have different characteristics from shoes and bare feet, and each foot feels differently. I designed a space where people can enjoy the difference in the way they feel by walking through various materials with socks.
My hometown, Koryo in Nara , is the “town of socks” with the largest production of socks in Japan, but in recent years the production has been on the decline. Therefore, I propose a building that will help revitalize the town’s industry by planning a space where people can learn about socks, make them, and enjoy walking around in them.
