The reason why I chose the School of Design

During my junior high and high school years, I was part of the Brass Band Club, and my life was always related to music. I chose the Acoustic Design course because I wanted to learn about sound in a comprehensive way instead of focusing solely on performance. When I first entered university, I was undecided about which field I wanted to pursue. However, as I became accustomed to campus life, it gradually became clearer.

My most memorable class

“Fundamental Sound Recording and Creation” remains particularly memorable. I had a fulfilling experience. It's a class where you learn about recording in a practical manner, considering how to get closer to the ideal recording in a variety of environments with various equipment. This included utilizing excellent studios and expensive microphones, as well as recording live performances by professional musicians. As previously mentioned, the School of Design deals with a wide range of fields; we also learn about the propagation and signal processing of sound, as well as the psychological perception of sound and sound culture.

My student life

I'm part of a club, “CBA Project,” that puts on a fashion show for the Geiko Festival, where I produce the music used for the show. In the club activities, I was able to utilize my knowledge as an Acoustic Design course student while interacting with people from other courses. Besides club activities, I make music using my PC and sometimes collaborate with acquaintances from other courses to make music videos for the songs!

Message to prospective students

I believe this faculty, especially the Acoustic Design course, is an irreplaceable place. If you have made it your first choice, I encourage you to keep pushing forward without giving up! Compared to now, you'll probably have more leeway in your campus life. Study the field you want to learn, create, play, start a musical instrument, whatever you want to do. I recommend you imagine your impending campus life and continue studying!
