The reason why I chose the Graduate School of Design

I've always enjoyed making things, so I assumed studying design at university meant going to an architecture department. However, when I researched as a prospective student, I discovered Kyushu University had the School of Design where I could study design. At the time, I hadn't decided what kind of design I wanted to do, so I felt that the School of Design, where I could learn a wide range of design, was a perfect fit. Now, wanting to study more practical design by also learning business, I've advanced to the Strategic Design course at the Graduate School of Design.

My most memorable class

"Studio Project." In this class, several themes are given, and I chose "Hakozaki town development project - Proposal of fashion and lifestyle goods using Hakozaki stripes". I was able to have valuable experiences such as learning fashion design, which I hadn't had the opportunity to study before, working in a group with short-term university students studying fashion, and proceeding with feedback from people living in Hakozaki, Fukuoka city.

My student life

It's fun to interact with a variety of unique people! There are many people in the Faculty of Design who are truly interested in a wide variety of things. It's interesting to hear about fields I didn't know about before, and I enjoy hanging out with friends who share common hobbies. I'm leading a fulfilling everyday life.

Message to prospective students

I think becoming an exam candidate can make you feel uncertain about many things. However, I suggest you consider how you can enjoy the process! I used to bring snacks with my friends and study at school, even on holidays, making it a routine to stay after school, marking the numbers of the problems I solved and feeling a sense of accomplishment as I marked them all. I encourage you to find your own unique way of enjoying your studies!!
