2011 Student Application Guidelines for Doctoral Program

(General Entrance Examination)

1. Number of applicants that will be accepted

   Department of Design: only a small number

   Department of Design Strategy: only a small number

 

 

2. Persons eligible for admission

(1) Persons who hold a Master’s degree or professional degree in Japan, or

      expect to obtain such a degree by September 30, 2011.

 (2) Persons who have been awarded a degree in another country that is

      equivalent to a Master’s degree or professional degree in Japan, or who

      expect to be awarded such a degree by September 30, 2011.

 (3) Persons who have taken classes in distance learning programs operated in

      Japan by schools in other countries, and have been awarded a degree that is

      equivalent to a Master’s degree or professional degree in Japan, or who

      expect to be awarded such a degree by September 30, 2011.

 (4) Persons who have completed a course of graduate study in an educational

      institution established within the school education system of a foreign country,

      which has been separately designated by the Ministry of Education, Culture,

   Sports, Science and Technology, and who have been awarded a degree that

   is equivalent to a Master’s degree or professional degree in Japan, or who

   expect to be awarded such a degree by September 30, 2011.

 (5) Persons designated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science

      and Technology

a)  Persons who, after graduating from university or completing 16 years of

     school education in a foreign country, studied for two years or more in a

     university or research institute, and based on the results of their work in

     that institution are judged by the Graduate School of Design to have

     academic achievements equivalent to, or greater than a person who holds

     a Master’s degree.

b)  Persons who, after completing 16 years of school education in a foreign

     country, either by direct attendance or by taking classes in a distance

     learning program operated by that school, studied for two years or more

     in a university or research institute, and based on the results of their work

     in that institution are judged by the Graduate School of Design to have

     academic achievements equivalent to, or greater than a person who holds

     a Master’s degree.

 (6) Persons who, based on an individual review of qualifications for admission,

     are judged by the Graduate School of Design to have academic achievements

     equivalent to, or greater than a person who holds a Master’s degree, and who

 are at least 24 years of age or will be 24 years of age by September 30, 2011.

 

 

3. Schedule of examination

(1) Application period: July 21 (Thurs.) – July 27 (Wed.), 2011

      Persons applying based on qualification (5) or (6) above must undergo a

      prior review of qualifications, which is conducted during the period from

      July 4 (Mon.) to July 8 (Fri.), 2011.

 

(2) Date of Examination: August 19 (Fri.), 2011

2. Persons eligible for admission

(1) Persons who hold a Master’s degree or professional degree in Japan, or

      expect to obtain such a degree by March 31, 2012.

 

(2) Persons who have been awarded a degree in another country that is

      equivalent to a Master’s degree or professional degree in Japan, or who

      expect to be awarded such a degree by March 31, 2012.

 

(3) Persons who have taken classes in distance learning programs operated in

      Japan by schools in other countries, and have been awarded a degree that is
